The Lords Commissioners of his Majestys Treasury desire You to prepare & lay before their Lordships a State of the Gold & Silver Coins of this Kingdom both as to their Weight & Fineness with the Difference in Value between a Guinea & 21sh: & 6d in Silver together with Your Observations & Opinion And their Lordships being Informed that great Quantities of Silver Coins are melted by several persons for their private Lucre contrary to Law to direct You to propose what Method you think will be most Effectual for preventing & discouraging that evil practice I am &c 12 Augt. 1717
