John Spenceley: The Information of John Spenceley (Spencely) 6 April 1702
East Rid: Com Ebor} Ss The Information of John Spencely of Cottingham in the county aforesaid taken upon oath this 6.th day of Ap:rll anno domini 1702.
Who saith, that he this Informant being about to sell a parcell of corn to one John Lindsey between Martinmas and Christmas last, he much suspected whether the said John Lindsley was in a capacity to pay for it, when one Pheneas Stevenson replyed to this informant you not fear your money for that he the said Lindsley could coyn money and said that the said Lindsley had shewn to him the said Stevenson money of his own making, and further told this Informant, that the said Lindsley had not as yett gott the true way of Edging the money, but that in a little time he would be master of the art of words to that Effect and this Informant further saith not,Capt. Jurat dic et anno supra dict coram me} Edw:d Barnard the mark of John Spenceley
The Informant daith that the above named Pheneas Stevenson did att the time aforesaid say that there was another Coyner within a stones throw of that place and that there was a gang or a pack of them Jurat corame me The Mark of John Spenceley Edward Barnard
